How to wire a floor lamp.
True the lamp will usually work either way.
The main bulb threads into a standard socket with an integrated switch and the three peripheral bulbs are wired to a single switch usually located near the central socket.
Make sure no bare wire is showing when making those connections.
Rewire your lamp by threading the new wire through the lamp to the socket then attach the new socket with small wire nuts making sure you match colors.
Note that one wire to each socket is connected to each of the lamp cord wires.
You ll want your lamp to sit flat on the table.
Pull the socket wires out of the socket caps with long nose pliers.

Twist the lamp socket to loosen it from the base.

Lift the lamp socket upwards and pull a few inches of wire through the base.
Before wiring make an escape point at the bottom of your lamp for the lamp wire.
Connect hot and neutral wires correctly.
In prepping the new wire for wiring the lamp it was advised to dab super glue around the edge of the cord to prevent fraying.
The threaded socket is the neutral.
