Vinegar is anti fungal cleaner anti deodorant and safe to use. Having washed the floor with this solution scrub using a firm hand scrubbing brush to remove mold. This should serve to penetrate further into the mold. Use finer 220 grit sandpaper to remove more ingrained mold.

Besides killing the mold it will also clear the musty smell. With sufficient effort scraping should clear much of the visible mold. The ratio should be 10 parts of water to 1 part bleach to remove mold effectively. Hold the scraper over the problem areas press into the floor and pull along the grain.

You can also use a dilute mixture of borax. If the mold has penetrated deeply into the wooden floor you ll need to use a more heavy duty scraping tool. Pull up all flooring with mold underneath. Mix 204 grams of borax powder in 3 8 litres of water and spray it on the affected areas then leave it.

Use a metal utensil such as a spackle blade to scrape away the mold. Remove the mold with a scraper. Aim to remove as much of the mold as you can with the scraper. For every 2 gallons of water add cup trisodium phosphate to the water.

Hardwood floors are a bit more difficult but you should be able to pull up the hardwood in sections to clean. Linoleum can be removed in sections using a razor blade and can be easily replaced if cut in sections of 1 square foot. This doesn t need rinsing and it prevents future mold growth on the silicon surface. If the mold is under carpet be sure to remove any padding under the carpet as well.

Spay the mold and cover the area with paper towels. Alternatively if you are positive the mold infestation is limited to a very small area and you wish to patch that section of the floor remove only the trim.
