How to stain red oak floors dark.
I m dying to go lighter but i keep reading with red oak i m out of luck.
Sand the floor again with both sanding machines but use 80 grit sandpaper.
I have red oak floors and want to stain a dark color.
The floor will not get darker if you flood it with an excess of stain or apply a second coat.
Seal the dye with a barrier coat of wax free shellac.
Very lightly scuff sand the dyed wood with 320 grit paper.
I think i should match this or either go lighter in the same tones but don t want to.
The steadier the pressure that you exert on the wood the deeper the resulting color of the wood will be.
They are a dark brownish red maple.
Apply a 50 50 mix of trans tint dark mission brown and medium brown dye to the bare wood and let it dry.

We are refinishing existing 2 1 4 red oak floors that are currently a darker stain and completely replacing the floors in some rooms so we have to stick with red oak.
