Spray the area with plain water or white vinegar for an added cleaning boost. Drench a clean cloth in the solution you just mixed. Using a soft clean white cloth scrub the area until the stain is removed. In a bowl mix 2 cups of warm water 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of liquid dishwashing detergent together.

Add a half tablespoon of vinegar to the baking soda. Spread the paste over the stained area and gently rub it with a sponge or your fingers. Several solvents will remove oil based paint but mineral spirits is the strongest one you can safely use on hardwood and you should use it sparingly. Pop a shower cap over it and leave for 15 to 20 minutes then shampoo it and rinse out.

Plain white vinegar when used as a mixture of equal parts vinegar and warm water will help to remove hair dye. Dampen a rag dab the floor and then touch. It should be at least as thick as toothpaste. For stains on hard surfaces use rubbing alcohol to rem.

Rinse the area with vinegar and repeat if necessary. Trouble removing your stain. Once the stain is completely gone wipe the area with a clean damp cloth and dry with a separate clean dry cloth. Use a spoon to mix the two products together.
