Today i m going to show you how to paint ceramic pitchers and then how to fill them with a spring floral arrangement.
How to paint ceramic vases.
For projects like painting a tile wall or a ceramic vase use a liquid paint that you can apply by hand.
This will allow the paint to adhere to the ceramic properly.
Bake on ceramic paint is safe to eat and drink from too so if you want to paint some fabulous mugs or plates bake on paint is the way to go.
On a whim i looked around for options to create my own textured paint not so much chalk paint but one that would give a really textured feel and change a basic vase into a more bespoke hand made feel.
Painting ceramic is super duper easy.
Glazed planters and pots have a glass like finish to them even when dulled with weather exposure and age.
A simple paint technique to give the look of high end painted ceramic vase for less.
Instead repaint that glazed ceramic piece.
1 coat of the primer bonder will do the trick.
The glazed coating presents a problem though.
I had on hand some baking powder and thought it could be a good option.
My diy textured ceramic effect paint.
No need to toss the ceramic piece.
Next apply a bonding primer to the slick surface.
As time goes on however you may need to repaint your ceramics to return them to their original luster.
I love the shape of them but i m not loving the decals painted on them.
Even easier than i originally anticipated.
Paint cannot stick to smooth glazed coating.
Use a mild soap and water and rinse well.
Ceramic glazes preserve your pottery and tile s coloring and also adds a layer of protection from small scratches.
So i added a table spoon of that.
Opt for epoxy paint to get a glossy highly durable and long lasting finish.
I did not paint the complete inside of the vase pitcher.
Alternatively acrylic and latex paint aren t as durable for high traffic areas as epoxy but are easier to find and work with.
Let it dry overnight until completely dry.
I went to goodwill and found these vases.
For an authentic look make sure you paint the inside edges especially if the vessel is a bright color.
I had planned to share the coffee table below but i didn t quite get it finished.
No need to fear.
When you want to repaint the planter this finish requires a special paint so that it adheres to the surface because not all paints will.
This can be a little bit tricky but i suggest first rolling your vase onto the side and doing the inside edge first then turn it right side up to do the rest of the vase says vanderzeil.
First you will need to clean your ceramic vase pitcher well.
Both come in a range of liquid paints and markers depending on the design you want to use.
