Once you have prepped the subfloor and have decided which type of flooring to use plan how you will lay the planks before installation in order to make the process as quick and easy as possible.
How to plan for laying down floors.

Lay out the unopened boxes of laminate planks in the room.
Lay the first full plank on the floor beginning on the right hand side corner of the room with the visible adhesive tongue facing out toward the room.

To lay laminate flooring first clear out any furniture in the room you ll be laying the floor in.
Unlike other modern flooring material vct flooring does have to be polished to maintain a shine.

Using the room measurements you found in the last step divide the room width by the plank width to determine how wide the planks bordering the walls.

Insert the tongue of the second row plank into the groove of the first row plank at a slight angle until the laminate edges meet.
If you are installing the flooring below grade or in a room like a basement with high humidity or moisture lay down a vapor barrier before you install the flooring.
Hold the next plank at a slight angle against the previous plank s end and fold down to click it into place.
Finish the molding to match the trim not the flooring.
Once your flooring is down install shoe molding to cover the expansion gap between the flooring and the base trim.
