Wash with care to keep your rug looking like new.
Apply a few drops of the lanolin free dish soap.
Hang your mats outside to dry or tumble dry on the lowest setting.
Air drying is the safest method though you can give it a quick tumble in the dryer without heat if needed.
Never dry a rubber backed rug in the dryer or use an iron on it as the heat can deteriorate the backing.
Place bathmats in the washing machine add laundry soap and use a gentle cold water setting.
Load the rug into a top loading machine and arrange it evenly.
Wipe down the rubber backing of the rug with a wet rag.
Take the rug outside and shake it vigorously to remove loose dirt and food particles.
Warm water is also safe.
Take a hard bristle brush warm water a rag and lanolin free dish soap and flip the rug over then follow the steps below.
Hot water loosens the fibers and may cause them to fall out from the rubber backing.
Lanolin free soap is the best choice for rubber backed rugs although it can reduce the slip resistance of the rubber backing so be careful with it.
If needed you can add baking soda for odor removal and borax to help disinfect bath mats.
If you are treating for stain removal let washer fill with water before adding any additives other than laundry soap.
About 1 2 cup per load.
Do not wash anything else with it because bits of the the rubber backing material disperse throughout the wash.
Gentle detergent is also recommended.
You should never use heat when drying plastic or rubber backed bathmats because it can cause the backing to crack or even melt.
Make sure that you wipe away all dirt and dust stains as much as possible before moving to the next step.
Do not use regular bleach or white vinegar because they sometimes break down the rubber backing and damage the carpet.
Run the rug through a wash and rinse cycle in your washing machine if it is washable.
