To replace a toilet flange lay newspaper down on the floor around the toilet and turn off the water to the toilet before flushing and siphoning all of the water out of the bowl.

Dry fit the flange to the soil pipe and the soil pipe to the closet bend to ensure the flange s collar rests on the floor.
When the toilet reaches the floor snug down the toilet bolt nuts.
You want to drive the toilet straight down with minimal twisting or shifting of it from side to side.
Instead sit on the toilet backward with your weight centered over the wax ring.
There are two options this step.
Clean up around the bottom of the toilet and place the new wax ring on the repaired flange.
Clean the floor around the opening with rubbing alcohol.
However if you re adding new flooring your flange could be too low.

Rest the toilet bowl on its side place it on a towel or cloth to protect the floor and attach the replacement wax ring to the bottom of the bowl this technique helps ensure the ring is in the proper position when placing the toilet over the flange.
