I did this project a long time ago but i thought of it recently after seeing this blog post about overdyed rugs.
How to overdye a rug.
Like other bloggers before me i headed over to the dharma trading company website and bought an 8oz container.
I moved there with no job no furniture and very little money.
I had mixed results which i imagine is often the case when a budget friendly solution seems too good to be true.
It was time to dye.
I find it easier to start in one corner and slowly work my way in towards the center.
For example you can overdye checks plaids and solids together to get a great mix of wool to use in a background the best advice about choosing colors is to read and understand a bit how colors affect each other.
I recently tried a project i saw on pinterest dyeing a thrifted wool rug to make it less ugly and more awesome in an attempt to have a budget friendly large rug for our basement tv room.

A rug that made of polypropylene nylon or acrylic is not over dyed.

Wet the carpet and place it outside on a plastic tarp.
They are made to look overdyed.
After two days of hard work and about 175 in supplies your rug will have a new look that you ll enjoy for years to come.
Spray the carpet until you have the preferred color.
These materials cannot retain any dye after they have left their liquid state and transform into their sold state.
Overdyeing several different wools in the same dye pot will result in those wools all working together in the same rug.
Use a hose until the water that drains off the carpet is completely clear.
If your rug is a dark color and you want to overdye it with a light color like yellow or light pink you may need to consider using thiox so anyway after the bleaching debacle and after a loooong time a drying.
